Gandmool Nakshatra Dosh

Nakshatras ruled by Mercury & Ketu - Ashlesha, Mool, Revati, Magha, Jyesth and Ashwini are called Gand Mool Nakshatras. If the Natal Moon in the Horoscope of a child is in one of these Nakshatras the child is said to be born in Gand Mool Nakshatras.

According to Astrologers child born in these Nakshatras is inauspicious and faces various obstacles and problems in life therefore on 27th day of his birth, pooja should be preformed. Some are also of the view that the newly born child is inauspicious to the near relatives like maternal uncle, father, mother etc.

Few classic works have difference in views according to them - Mool, Jyeshth and Ashlesha are more inauspicious.

According to Vedic Astrology starting 5 hours of Aswini, Magha & Mool and ending 5 hours of Mool, Jyeshth & Ashlesha are called "Gand".

Mool & Jyeshth in day time, Ashlesha and Magha in night time & Ashwini & Rewati give more in auspicious results. First part of Aswhwini, first two parts of Magha & last part of Revati are bad. In other parts of Nakshatras no dosh should be assumed.

Some are of the view that if the child is born in Gand Mool Nakshatras, it signifies death of cattle, bad by heart, bad for maternal uncle, bad for elder brother, bad for spouse, death of father and death of mother etc.

If a planet is benefic good results are going to pass and its dasha will give good results. Therefore if in a horoscope or for a native, Mercury or Ketu are benefices and he/she is born in that Nakshatra, these planets and their dasha will give good results. It means we can not generalize the statement that if a child born in Gand Mool Nakshatra always give bad results will come to pass. This means if planets are malefic bad results will come to pass.

However, in every dosha the results should not be taken in a serious view from the "Name of Dosha" because our shastras lay down the system of pooja, paath, prayers, donations which can of course rectify any dosha, as Gandmool Dosha under reference. Other than Gandhool Dosha there is existence of many yogas in the new born child as Raj yoga, Ekabli yoga, Chander-Mangal yoga, Budh-Aditya yoga , Gajkesari yoga, Hans yoga, Sihasan yoga (may be more than 1000 yogas) which play an important role at the time of birth and in further life. Under the yogas parents and other many relatives are affected. As I said there is nothing to be worried about because the "Upaya for Gandmool" is quite simple but it shows be done accurately. In the absence of this the repercussions could be hazardous. The best example relating to Gandmool Dosha is that as a polio drop is given to the infants to avoid any complications in the deformity of the body as the child converts into an adult.
